Rhema | Words of Encouragement

Pre-service Sunday night is the time for one thing, coffee and conversation. It never disappoints.

So when they were sent off, they came to Antioch; and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the letter. When they had read it, they rejoiced over its encouragement. Acts 15.30-31

encouragement

I have written extensively on here; posted a number of series; written pieces in line with the Content Team suggestions; interviewed people; had guest posts, etc.

However, recently I have posted rather small posts with one simple goal – encouragement.

Pre-service Sunday night is the time for one thing, coffee and conversation. It never disappoints. I’m almost always encouraged.

You’re not the same person you were at the beginning of the year

I heard the words from a trusted source and immediately zoned in. “You’re not the same person you were at the beginning of the year.”

I was asked how I was doing and then the other person came back with this pronouncement. My mind began to scroll back through my life over the course of this year and I began to see the changes along the way.

This has been about the most difficult 10 months of my life, but God has graciously offered strength and endurance, even joy.

Has anyone else told you that?

This question made me stop and think. “Has anyone else told you that?”

I began to share instances when others had spoken similar words. It did me a world of good to stop and consider the similar words from others. The person was glad to hear it as well.

When I first met you, I thought “That man has a problem”

These words struck me and made me feel a little self-conscious. “When I first met you, I thought, ‘That man has a problem.'”

However, the person explained they could see I was facing something difficult. The person got to know me early in the year, found out about my life, and was a constant encouragement to me.

I’m not even praying for you anymore

These words rolled off the person’s tongue, but they were explained. “I’m not even praying for you anymore.”

In other words, the burden has lifted. “The Holy Spirit isn’t even bringing you to my remembrance to pray for as often.”

In a weird way, it felt like a graduation. Perhaps I have graduated from one of the most difficult seasons of my life. As interesting as the wording is, I still see it as words of encouragement.
