A lot has changed in the 5 years since I wrote this, but some things NEVER change:
March 21, 2020-Somewhere in the middle of America, there’s a 19 year old college freshman boy staring at the Kansas City Chiefs posters on his bedroom wall, listening to sappy out-of-date emo music, wishing he had just talked to her.
During Spring Break, he made the decision that he was going to ask the cute, bubbly blonde he’d previously been afraid to talk to, out for coffee as soon as he got back to class.
Now he’s wondering if he’ll ever see her again.
If the last few days have shown us anything, it’s that “tomorrow” isn’t guaranteed.
We’re in a place that we have no reference point for.
We truly don’t know what will be asked of us one day to the next.
The college boy didn’t take advantage of the time he was gifted.
Who knows? Maybe she would have bluntly snarled, “NO!”
But maybe they would have ended up getting married in 18 months.
Bottom line is that he missed an opportunity.
Making the Most
of Every Opportunity
What opportunities have you missed?
Have you made amends with family you’ve been angry with?
Have you spent time teaching your kids about practical life lessons?
Have you said, “I love you?”
Have you been able to check off any of the items on your bucket list?
Have you smiled at a stranger or secretly paid for someone’s meal?
Have you lived life to the fullest?
What have you missed out on?
The most important thing: have you asked Jesus Christ to be your Lord?
Have you asked Him into your heart?
Have you asked Him to forgive you of years of bad decisions?
Have you decided to live the rest of your life serving Him?
If not, I encourage you to.
Don’t miss this opportunity.
It’s the one opportunity you can’t come back from.
This college boy might see the bubbly blonde on the first day of Fall semester and I bet he doesn’t think twice if the opportunity presents itself again.
You’ve been given the opportunity to meet Jesus…don’t waste it.
