In Defense of Praying for my Future Wife

In Defense of Praying for my Future Wife

I have found it necessary to offer a defense of my last two articles. I don’t know that I’ve ever done this before, but I did receive some pushback. My last two articles were prayers for my future wife.

These prayers may seem a little silly. In fact, these articles may seem a little silly. After all, I am recently divorced. Should I be holding onto this hope so quickly?

In defense of prayer, I don’t really believe there’s any prayer that goes unheard.

These are mere arrow prayers. They are intended to be prayed in a moment, very quickly, and very pointedly.

However, they stem from prolonged periods of prayer. In other words, they are not the sum of the prayer. They are merely a representative of it. The prayer time in which they were conceived was longer.

The Lord has dealt with me to pray for my wife, my future wife. I most often do that on the way to or from work. That would be on the roads Sunset or Fremont. Of course I pray with my eyes open so I can drive. Also, I have chosen these roads because they have less traffic, so I can concentrate more. It equals out to 5 to 10 minutes of prayer time nearly every day.

In defense of this spiritual discipline, I made this commitment in my mid-teens and I have kept it over time. What I am sharing in the last two articles are snippets of prayers that have lasted much longer, and a habit a prayer that I have maintained for over half my life.
