If I Had a Hammock

You know, it’s possible I just managed to capture the whole of my politics in a single parody blog title.

The “hammer” of “If I Had a Hammer” was Pete Seeger’s 1949 tribute to those members of the Communist Party USA who were on trial for advocating the overthrow of the US government. Here are Peter, Paul and Mary performing the song once the politics had simmered a bit:

If I had a hammer
I’d hammer in the morning
I’d hammer in the evening

I’d hammer out danger
I’d hammer out a warning
I’d hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land

I think his brothers and sisters might want to skip that one, don’t you?

Anyway, the point of this is, I’ve wanted a hammock for years. And now I’m finally about to go buy one and put it up on my back porch and take some great summer naps.
