Terrorists Attack…But We Save Lives

“For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” (Luke 9:56 NKJV)

Terrorists attack.

That is the nature of a terrorist. They bring terror in their wake. Today is the fifth anniversary of one such attack. The attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001 changed the perspective of terrorism against Americans forever.

On this day, almost 3,000 Americans lost their lives. Fathers and mothers were separated from their children. Families and marriages were forever torn apart. Lives were destroyed by acts of terrorism.

But we save lives.

That was what Jesus did for us. He came to save lives.

Firemen risked their lives to save those who were near the state of darkness and death in the hell of these Twin Towers. Jesus risked His life for all of who are near the state of eternal darkness and physical death in a similar hell.

Terrorists attack…but we save lives.

The call for Christians is to save lives. We are called by God’s Word and Christ’s example to bring people to salvation. We do that by pointing people to the cross of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice.

May we remember those who lost their lives, and the lessons of that day. May this day also remind us as Christians to save lives for eternity. May we remember to share with those in darkness the message of Jesus Christ.
