5 Ways God Loves Me With a Forever Love

November 23, 2016 Year C

1. God identifies with me.

““At that time”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be My people.”” (Jeremiah 31:1, HCSB)

God says “at that time,” which as Christians, we know means after the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the exact representation of God on Earth. He mirrored God to us.

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” (Hebrews 1:3, HCSB)

God identified with us through His Son Jesus. He showed that He can be human, He can be hurt, He can be healed. He can relate to you and me. That’s important because love is a relational emotion and affection. For God to have empathy with me, He must identify with me. He did that through His Son.

2. God chooses me to be part of His eternal family.

““At that time”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be My people.”” (Jeremiah 31:1, HCSB)

When God says He will be “the God of all the families of Israel.” He means everyone. The reason is because, through Abraham, all the families of the world will be blessed.

“I will bless those who bless you, I will curse those who treat you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:3, HCSB)

“And all the nations of the earth will be blessed by your offspring because you have obeyed My command.”” (Genesis 22:18, HCSB)

“Your offspring will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out toward the west, the east, the north, and the south. All the peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.” (Genesis 28:14, HCSB)

I am blessed through Abraham because it means that through Jesus, I am part of God’s family – even when He calls that family Israel.

3. God provides for me when life is hard.

“This is what the Lord says: They found favor in the wilderness — the people who survived the sword. When Israel went to find rest,” (Jeremiah 31:2, HCSB)

God provided for His people when they were stranded in the desert. He protected them from being killed by the sword. When life was hard, God provided for His people, one day at a time.

God still provides. Because He loves me, He provides for me when life is hard. Jesus said that I should pray for “our daily bread.”

“Give us today our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11, HCSB)

Jesus meant for  me to depend on God to provide for me one day at a time.

4. God never stops extending love to me.

“the Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.” (Jeremiah 31:3, HCSB)

God can love me with a forever love because God is eternal.

God is love. Love is the essence of God.

“The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:8, HCSB)

Since His essence is love, He wants to share love with others. Since He is eternal, He can extend His love to me forever.

5. God always restore when my relationship with Him falters.

God reminds His people (and me) that there will be a time when God will make things right. God says that:

He will rebuild.

“Again I will build you so that you will be rebuilt, Virgin Israel. You will take up your tambourines again and go out in joyful dancing.” (Jeremiah 31:4, HCSB)

He will  replant.

“You will plant vineyards again on the mountains of Samaria; the planters will plant and will enjoy the fruit.” (Jeremiah 31:5, HCSB)

He will allow me to return to Him.

“For there will be a day when watchmen will call out in the hill country of Ephraim, “Get up, let’s go up to Zion, to Yahweh our God!”” (Jeremiah 31:6, HCSB)

God loves me with a forever love. He desires to restore relationships. He doesn’t want to quit loving me. Thank God that He will never stop loving me. He is faithful. He wants to keep loving me as His child forever.

Prayer: Thank you God that You will never give up loving me. I need a reminder every day that you love me forever.
