A Prophecy From a Curse to a Blessing
October 2, 2013
“Yet the number of the Israelites will be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or counted. And in the place where they were told: You are not My people, they will be called: Sons of the living God.” (Hosea 1:10, HCSB)
This is a prophecy about the return of the Israelites to the Promised Land of Israel after being dispersed for over 2000 years. This prophecy has partially been fulfilled. The people of Israel have been returned. They have not yet been called “Sons of the Living God.”
“And the Judeans and the Israelites will be gathered together. They will appoint for themselves a single ruler and go up from the land. For the day of Jezreel will be great.” (Hosea 1:11, HCSB)
Again, a reminder of a two-part prophecy. Judeans and Israelites have been gathered together. The people of Israel have not yet appointed a single rule. The “day of Jezreel” has not yet happened.
The “Day of Jezreel” is a reference to the place of the Jezreel valley (also known as Armageddon) and the day refers to the time when God will fight to protect His people the nation of Israel. He will have compassion on His people and defend them in a final battle.
“Call your brothers: My People and your sisters: Compassion.” (Hosea 2:1, HCSB)
The people of Israel will be called God’s People and they will receive compassion by God – in the fact that God will keep His promises to His people.
What originally was known as a curse – “not my people” and “no compassion” – will be turned into a blessing. God will again call His people together and lead them with compassion.
