  Healing As a Witnessing Tool

Healing As a Witnessing Tool is a simple thought Lectionary reflection on how a Christian can use a personal healing experience as a witnessing tool.

Acts 9:32-35

Jesus commanded His people to be a witness (Acts 1:8). There are a variety of ways to witness to others about Jesus Christ. One such way is through healing. Peter came to a man who had been paralyzed named Aeneas. Peter heals him in the name of Jesus Christ.

While there are Christians who believe that we can heal one another, I think the impulse of this section is not the healing act, but the result of healing. People who knew Aeneas saw that he was healed by Jesus Christ. Aeneas’ healing became a way to share his faith in Jesus. He could clearly tell them that Jesus healed them.

No matter who is doing the healing – an apostle,or a doctor – the healing act becomes a tool in the hand of a Christian who receives the healing. So if you get sick for any reason. You go to the doctor and you get better. That is a reason to share Jesus. Jesus helped the doctor to heal you. You can help other people see Jesus through the healing act.

Prayer: God, help me to use healing in my life as a witnessing tool.
