God’s Discipline Is Just for the Righteous

God’s Discipline Is Just for the Righteous is a simple thought reflection on the nature of God’s discipline for His children from Psalm 94.

When people think about God’s judgment, they think rightly of punishment. The fool and the wicked will be judged (Psalm 94:8). However, the fool doesn’t understand that God’s discipline (which sounds like judgment) is just as just.

God disciplines those He loves. He judges those who don’t love Him.

How can this be fair? How can God do this? God is the One who knows our motives (Psalm 94:9-11).

God’s discipline is good for His people. It has a positive purpose. God’s people are happy because God uses disciplines (Psalm 94:12-13). Otherwise, God would have to exact judgment.
God’s justice and discipline are part of God’s nature (Psalm 94:14-15). Only God’s people know that these qualities come from his heritage of love (Psalm 94:14). He cares for the righteous.

What is the lesson? God doesn’t judge His children. God disciplines them because He loves them (Proverbs 3:11-12, Hebrews 12:5-6). His discipline is just. We should learn from it.

Prayer: God, Thank You that You discipline me, and not judge me. Please help me understand that what You are doing for me is for my best.
