Isaiah 11:1-9
In this passage, we see a future. A future in which Jesus (David’s great descendent – also known as the “stump of Jesse.”) will reign supreme over all of the world.
Yet, before Jesus reigns over the world, He will rule over my life. Jesus has already shown us what He will use to lead my life. Jesus will rule using:
1. The Holy Spirit (Isaiah 11:2)
Jesus left us the Holy Spirit to help us lead our life. The Spirit gives knowledge and wisdom. The Spirit counsels us and shows us how to live.
2. The fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:3-5)
The fear of the Lord is the idea of respecting God. God will judge rightly. He will judge my life rightly. I should learn to respect that God knows what He is doing when He examines my life.
3. Knowledge of the Lord (Isaiah 11:9)
The knowledge of the Lord leads to peace in my life. The wolf lies with the lamb (Isaiah 11:6), and no one will harm one another (Isaiah 11:8).
I don’t have to wait for Jesus to return to lead my life. Instead, I can let Him lead me today.
Prayer: God, I want You to rule and reign in my life.
