Poem: “Measure of Life”

Poem: “Measure of Life”

man looking at waterfall measuring life
“gratitude is not natural for most of us. to measure with critique means the absence of gratitude. to see everyday observations with gratitude is to gaze at the beauty of The Lord.”

“Measure of life”

seemingly nothing, but also everything in life is measured.
we’ve been conditioned to measure by critique not gratitude.
what does it mean to have a heart full of gratitude?
take everyday observations:

a pencil and a blank piece of paper
can be used for declaring acts of war.
but can also be used for words that give life and healing.

the act of the sun rising and the moon falling
can signal a new day of dreams being crushed.
but they can also reveal hope of a new tomorrow.

they say eyes reveal the soul of a person
a life of heartache, waste, and death.
or they display the miracle of life, death, and rebirth?

gratitude is not natural for most of us.
to measure with critique means the absence of gratitude.
to see everyday observations with gratitude
is to gaze at the beauty of The Lord.
