My friend and colleague, James. R. Doty, M.D. sent me this pic, recently. I thought I’d share it here.
James is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University and the Director of the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCare) at Stanford University School of Medicine.
He is also an inventor, entrepreneur and philanthropist having given support to a number of charitable organizations including Children as the Peacemakers, Global Healing and Family & Children Services. These charities support a variety of programs throughout the world including those for HIV/AIDS support, blood banks, medical care in third world countries and peace initiatives.
James will be one of my guests in the free video series that I’m doing with en*theos, titled Hardwiring Happiness: The 7 Essential Strengths. The series is about how to use the power of everyday experiences to build up important strengths and resources for yourself.
Guests include Joseph Goldstein, Sharon Salzberg, Todd Kashdan, Marci Shimoff, Stephen Porges, Kristin Neff, and Jim Doty (plus I’ll do a final integrative wrap-up). On eight Mondays, starting September 23, there will be a new interview, which will then be archived indefinitely so you can watch any time – all freely offered.
As broad themes that include a lot of practical information, the 7 strengths are Mindfulness, Love, Imagination, Courage, Resilience, Confidence, and Contentment. Check it out!
