I am a huge Pentatonix fan, so I love a good a cappella performance — especially when there’s some humor.
For our Jewish brothers and sisters, or just anyone who enjoys great singing, here’s the latest release from Y-Studs A Cappella, a Jewish group based in New York City.
“The Greatest Passover” is a medley of tunes from the soundtrack to the P.T. Barnum movie “The Greatest Showman,” with some help from a cappella arranger Ed Boyer (who’s worked with Pentatonix) and product sponsor Manichewitz.
More about the group:
Y-Studs A Cappella gained international attention in 2015 with the release of Hashem Melech, their a cappella cover of Gad Elbaz’s hit single (based itself on Khaled’s “C’est la vie”). They’ve since traveled the world, from Europe to South America and beyond, spreading their music at concerts, weddings and various other family and communal events. They followed up their first music video with Seder, a Passover-inspired parody of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” which received over a million views on social media and was covered by CBS, TIME, and other news outlets. More recently, they released another music video, Evolution of Jewish Music, a mega-medley filled with iconic songs spanning centuries of the religious Jewish musical culture. The ‘Studs are well renowned for their youthful energy, bright harmonies, and genuine connectivity with their audiences.
