Three ‘Friday Night Lights’ Men — And a Baby

In January 2012, I spent a blustery day on the set of The CW’s “Hart of Dixie,” chatting with cast members — including former “Friday Night Lights” star Scott Porter.

On the record, we discussed how he’d have liked to have Tim Tebow as a TV brother. Off the record, he talked about designing the engagement ring he was preparing to give his girlfriend, Kelsey Mayfield, whom he met while shooting “Friday Night Lights” in Austin, Texas (she was a University of Texas cheerleader at the time).

But we had to be quiet, since Mayfield didn’t know that the big pop-the-question moment was at hand (which it was, in very short order). Of course, she said “yes,” but it took quite a bit of asking around before I could verify that fact — and believe me, I kept at it until I knew the answer!

The two wed in April, 2013.

According to Us Weekly:

The pair swapped vows in front of 140 friends and family members, including Porter’s former Friday Night Lights costars Taylor KitschDerek Phillips and Gaius CharlesHart of Dixie’Wilson Bethel and New Girl‘s Zooey Deschanel also attended the ceremony at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs, Texas. Actor Sean Garrity was a groomsman.

And now there’s this:

McCoy Lee Porter was born May 23. What could be sweeter?

Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!
