The final installment of Pope Benedict XVI’s trilogy on Jesus of Nazareth will hit the shelves in bookstores across the United States and Canada on December 4—just in time for Christmas.

Titled simply The Infancy Narratives, the book is a prequel of sorts.  The first book of the series, covering the period from Jesus’ baptism to his Transfiguration, hit the New York Times bestseller list when it was published in 2007.  The second, another best seller when it was released in 2011, chronicled the passion and death of Jesus.

According to the press release from Image Books, the Catholic-interest imprint of the Crown Publishing Group at Random House, Inc., in this book:

Pope Benedict focuses exclusively on the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ infancy and childhood, sharing a compelling, flesh-and-blood portrait of Jesus and inciting readers to encounter, face-to-face, the central figure and the hope of the Christian faith.

And if you’re interested, the Spanish-language edition will be released before Easter 2013.
