1.   Describe the “happy” you.

Where do we begin? At the end, of course! If you are going to work toward happiness, you need to know what happiness looks like, right? So, you should begin by looking to the future and describing the happy you—who you are and what your life looks like when you reach your goal of being as happy as you can get.

Take a piece of paper, sit down and reflect upon this scenario and then as you look to the future, write down in a very detailed fashion how you see yourself if everything in your world were as right as it could be. For example:

• Describe what your financial scenario looks like.

• Are you in a happy dating or marriage relationship?

• If you have to work, what would your employment scenario look like?

• If you have children, describe what your relationship with them looks like.

• Describe your relationship with your ex-spouse.

• What about your spiritual life? What does that look like?

Although you should not limit yourself to these questions alone, they are a great primer to help you start determining what the happy version of yourself looks like.
