Finding Strength in the Hills

Finding Strength in the Hills October 6, 2024

Today, I’m looking to the hills from where my help comes. Amen! In moments like these, I’m reminded of Psalm 121:1-2, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” It’s a grounding truth that speaks to me, especially on days when I’m feeling a little off balance.

Let’s be real—there are days when I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders. There have been times when I’ve thought about giving up, when the feelings of disappointment and being overlooked creep in. It’s tough, and I sometimes feel like I’m failing at what I believe God has called me to do. But here’s the thing: I’ve learned to appreciate those moments of struggle. They’re not just obstacles; they’re opportunities for growth and deeper faith.

Scrolling through my Facebook feed, I see a community of beautiful, uplifting souls. You all lift me up with your encouraging posts. It’s a reminder of God’s mercy and grace. Even when I’m feeling low, I realize that God’s love is right there, whispering that I’m not alone. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord in Isaiah 55:8, and that’s a powerful reminder that God’s perspective is so much bigger than mine.

Sometimes, we look to people we admire, and when we feel shunned or dismissed by them, it can really sting. But I’m learning to shift my focus. Instead of worrying about what others think, I’m leaning into the truth that God’s opinion is the only one that truly matters. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord in Jeremiah 29:11. This is a promise that brings me hope and strength, reminding me that my journey has purpose.

Even now, when it feels like my craft isn’t being recognized, I’m holding onto that reassurance. God is in my corner, and His opinion is the one I choose to value. I’m grateful for all the positive energy on my timeline. Sometimes, the encourager needs encouragement too. It’s a beautiful reminder that we are all in this together.

Today, I’m embracing the mantra: Let go, and let God do His work. Let go of your problems and allow God to handle them. Let go of your hurt, and let Him heal you. Let go of your fears, and let Him sustain you. Let go of your worries, and let Him bless you. This is not just a catchy phrase; it’s a way of life that brings peace. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” That peace that transcends all understanding? It’s available to us when we trust.

I’m reflecting on the power of community right now. It’s easy to forget how much our words can lift someone else. Just a few encouraging words can make all the difference—trust me, I’ve been there. I’m thankful for those who share their light and love because they remind me we’re in this together.

So today, I’m choosing to embrace the journey—flaws and all. I’m celebrating the small wins and trusting in God’s timing. Every step I take is a testament to His faithfulness. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,” says Psalm 37:23. I’m confident that I’m moving in the right direction, even when it feels a bit rocky.

As we wrap this up, I want you to think about your own journey. What burdens are you carrying? What fears are holding you back? Take a moment to let go and allow God to work in your life. Trust that He’s with you, guiding you, and providing the encouragement you need.
