The Second Day of Advent

The Second Day of Advent November 30, 2020

New Life in Christ

Consider yourselves dead to sin and alive in God in Christ Jesus. (Romans 6:11)

In the midst of life, we are surrounded by death, and in the midst of death, we are surrounded by life, so says Reformer Martin Luther. There is plenty of death in the world. Advent calls us to life.

Advent calls us to begin again with each new day. To free ourselves from the past and open to new possibilities. The horizons of Advent call us to holy adventures one day at a time.

We can experience resurrection in the midst of Advent waiting. We can let go of all that ties us down, everything that burdens us, and trust God with the present moment and the future. In Christ, we are new creations. Death has been defeated and now we can live with the promise that in life and death, nothing can separate us from the love of God.

We can celebrate Easter doing Advent…we can proclaim resurrection during a time of pandemic – Christ the Lord is Risen each day – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfNwvNhpkN4

God of new beginnings wake us up to wonder. Hope us to claim eternal life in the midst of pandemic. Let our hearts not be troubled, but let us trust God with our living and dying. IN Jesus Name. Amen.
