Thanksgiving Scriptures for the Holiday Season

Thanksgiving Scriptures for the Holiday Season November 27, 2024

This Thanksgiving season, it is important to remember to be thankful. Don’t forget, the reason we have all that we have is because of God’s great love for us. No matter what we are going through, there is always something to be thankful for. The Bible gives us many Thanksgiving scriptures that remind us to be thankful. Today, let’s give God the thanks and praise He deserves.

Why is Giving Thanks Important?

Being thankful should be an integral part of our lives. In fact, even though this week we are celebrating Thanksgiving, every day should be a day of thanksgiving for Christians. Having a heart of thanksgiving is rooted in recognizing and expressing gratitude towards God and towards others. Never forget that it is God who bestows countless blessing upon each one of us and it is He who deserves the most gratitude.

Giving thanks to the Lord fosters a spirit of humility, trust, faithfulness and reverence. Being thankful is an act of acknowledgement that everything we have comes from God and God alone. Today and every day, don’t forget to thank the Lord for all he’s done in your life.

Give Thanks in Every Situation

Life is hard, but God is greater. Sometimes we can get so caught up in our lives that we forget to be thankful – especially for the little things. Start each day by giving God thanks for waking you up. Throughout the day, thank Him periodically every time you smile.

Go through your day with a heart of gratitude and you will see just how quickly your outlook changes and how much smoother your day goes. Looking at the blessings in your life rather than the things that are going wrong is one way to maintain a positive outlook.

For example, instead of being upset that you are sitting in traffic, be

thankful that it gives you have more time to listen to music or talk to your best friend while in that traffic.  Rather than being frustrated that there are long lines in the grocery store this week, be thankful that you are able to buy the food you will serve your family and guests.

You see, we all should start looking on the positive side of things rather than the negative side. Choose joy, not anger or frustration. Look at the silver lining in all the clouds you see.

Remember that God has a plan and purpose and that He is in control. As you gather around the table with family and friends this holiday season, recall all the amazing things that God has done for you.

Happy Thanksgiving

The holiday season is busy and hectic but please don’t forget that God is still on His throne. He is still watching over us and He is still in control. Remember to give Him the thanks and praise that He is so deserving of – even for the little things that may seem insignificant.

I pray that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Blessings,

Amy
