3. Continuationists

Continuationist Christians believe that the supernatural spiritual gifts have continued and will continue in every age until the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. There is a broad range of Christians in this doctrinal position, from Catholics and Methodists to Charismatics and Pentecostals. Differences among continuationist Christians include what is meant by “the baptism of the Holy Spirit,” and whether this refers to something that happens to all believers upon conversion or is a second and subsequent experience marked by speaking in tongues. Another difference would be whether or not the supernatural spiritual gifts should occur publicly in a church service or be reserved for more private occasions where non-Christians are unlikely to be present.
