Pro-Life Leaders Call for Unity in the Movement

Pro-Life Leaders Call for Unity in the Movement January 20, 2015

Washington, D.C. (January 19, 2015) – A diverse group of pro-life leaders brought together by Life Matters Journal is announcing the Pro-Life Allies coalition in order to promote unity in the movement to abolish abortion. Speakers from Life Matters Journal, Feminists for Nonviolent Choices, New Wave Feminists, Bama Students for Life, Secular Pro-Life, And Then There Were None Pro-Life Outreach, and Democrats for Life of America will speak just prior to the March for Life rally to bring awareness to the cause.Although not represented by a speaker, other coalition member organizations include the Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians, Alice Paul Group, and Consistent Life.

The Pro-Life Allies coalition is an effort to both be a more welcoming space for the non-traditional pro-lifers, and to be a witness to society that the movement is united in the midst of so much diversity. The coalition consists of individuals and organizations who believe that time is better spent doing the work of ending abortion rather than causing division by infighting. Pro-Life Allies believe that the pro-life ethic is one that is understandable and agreeable to people from every background.

In addition to speaking on the need for unity in the pro-life movement, the coalition members are asking pro-lifers to sign a pledge, which is as follows: “I promise to work with you to end abortion and all other violence against humanity until we live in a culture of peace. I promise to work with you regardless of your skin color, religion, politics, sexuality, income, or background, as long as you stand with me against this injustice of aggressive violence.”

“Peace cannot be attained by mere factions — we need everybody on board if we’re to end abortion and bring about a culture of life” said Aimee Murphy, founder of Life Matters Journal.

On Thursday, coalition members including Abby Johnson, Albany Rose Saindon, Kelsey Hazzard, and more will bring a call to action at the #LifeMatters Meetup, at which the press conference will take place.
