Amos to our Justice System

Amos to our Justice System April 9, 2015

4 Hear this, you who trample upon the needy,
and bring the poor of the land to an end,
5 saying, “When will the new moon be over,
that we may sell grain?
And the sabbath,
that we may offer wheat for sale,
that we may make the ephah small and the shekel great,
and deal deceitfully with false balances,
6 that we may buy the poor for silver
and the needy for a pair of sandals,
and sell the refuse of the wheat?”

7 The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob:
“Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.(Am 8:4–7).

If the use of the F word upsets you more than the injustices in the video, you should rethink your priorities. Oh, there’s also this:

We have 4% of the world’s population and 25% of the world’s prisoners here in the Land of the Free. We jail more people than Stalin did. And with our thriving abortion trade our system of free enterprise has killed more people than Hitler did.

Oh, and just for some icing:

    amos said that approx. 2750 years ago, and people still do it. what am i to deduce from that?

      That we have no excuse.

        yeah, pretty much.
        though a reasonable person could be forgiven for thinking that there’s something wrong with the theory in the first place.

      Though the mills of God grind slowly;
      Yet they grind exceeding small;
      Though with patience He stands waiting,
      With exactness grinds He all.

    This is definitely an area where the capitalist model of the free market does not work, particularly with its emphasis on “growth”. There are some businesses that should have the ultimate long-term goal of making themselves unnecessary, but of course this goes against the “principle” that the only social responsibility of a corporation is making money for its shareholders…

  • You do know the last video is from the Onion which is a parody site like EYOT.

    Yes, municipal violations are petty, and are simply a way of controlling people and extracting more revenue for the state.

    Kind of like the petty things that accidentally turn you into a criminal, which you will be fined for, in the new Washington ‘gun control’ bill that you pushed for. Lots of fines can be quite easily incurred, quite unintentionally in that, which I’m sure is an intended feature of the bill. But that’s actually OK, because being petty to those kind of people is TOTALLY ok, because none of us like them (yuck!). Some pettiness is more equal than others.

    I’m very happy my municipality has only a low level of all this kind of rubbish.

    I do not think that there exists a “justice” system any more. I would not even call it a “legal” system”. At best, it is “a” court system among others, and now that money controls everything, the real goal is to make the people who happen to have the money and power richer and richer and to control the other 99%.
