Good! It’s amazing what an army can do when it takes time off from graft to focus on doing real soldier stuff. 🙂

Good of you to share your work experience.

Apparently this was actually a real problem. I’ve seen suggested in several places that one of the reasons Nigeria has had such a tough time stamping out Boko Haram is that a sizeable percentage of the local soldiers in these areas were part of Boko Haram themselves, or at least helping (or deliberately not hindering) them. Corruption is a huge problem.

          Corruption–precisely what is amusing about k o’ k’s comment.
It will be interesting to find out what ransom the area commander paid the Boko Haram commander to leave the young women to be “freed.”

Hopefully it is true. It also illustrates a rather important point that many have been derided for noticing: awareness is useless without action being taken.

Sean Penn doing a frowny face doesn’t pull girls destined for sex slavery out of that hell and back to their families. You kind of need the men with rifles to do that.
