False Prophets…

…whether of the population bomb types (whose prophecies resulted in forced sterilization for millions of people) or of “Democracy will bloom and grow!” war zealot types (resulting in a million deaths in Iraq followed by ISIS and the brutal murder of the Church in the Mideast) have one thing in common: no matter how massively and obviously wrong they are they never admit it and their followers go on listening to their massively wrong prophecies.

Of course, I oppose the death penalty, but there are times I kind of miss the days when false prophets were stoned to death. Crude, but effective–and possessed of a visceral drop-dead authenticity that really let you know where the false prophet stood in the grand scheme of things.
