People have a superstition that an angry God slowly simmers for years and years and then finally says, “Right! That’s *IT*!” and then rains down destruction in a temper tantrum over some sin or other. In reality, God does everything he possibly can do to save us, up to and including suffering crucifixion for us, and we respond by pig-headedly ignoring even the most elementary common sense (such as “Get your children vaccinated against communicable diseases“) until we bury ourselves in a landslide of massively foreseeable consequences. Then we wrack our brains about “Why God allowed this evil.” Why did *you* allow it? Why did you go out of your way to make sure it happened?
