of Wonder.

Wonder is the mother of art, philosophy, theology and science.

Incredibly, some people have a hard time telling the difference between ideology and the Catholic faith. The distinction is simple. The former has absolutely no room for wonder; the latter lives, moves, and has its being in Wonder.

The difference between the Catholic faith and ideology is that the Catholic faith is certain about a few truths (summed up in the creed) and lets the rest be mystery penetrable (to a degree) by human wonder playing out in the arts, science, philosophy, and theology. Ideologues, in contrast, glom on to an All-Explaining Theory of Everything that has to reduce all experience to Evolution, or Class Struggle, or Capitalism, or Electricity or whatever.
