…to tick off the Bloodthirsty and Vengeful. Expect the normal protests from the Cafeteria Members on the Right. Loathing and mockery of Catholic teaching is okay when they do it cuz they’re Faithful Conservative Catholics[TM]. Read more

My uncle Charlie has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I don’t know too much of the details (I *just* found out like five minutes ago, and they’ve only known since Friday). Charlie’s a good guy who has made my aunt Judy very happy, and if she loses him, she’ll be a widow twice over. I don’t want to see that happen to her. I ask the prayers of everyone out there for his recovery and the strength... Read more

A reader writes to comment on my remark that we should be profiling those who express enthusiasm for violence against the innocent, not on the basis of race or ethnicity and manages to be a stupid as possible: We do not profile. We do not put people in camps because of their race or religion. We search grandma’s at airports while we leave the back door wide open for more terror in hundreds of ways. Imagine if these rules had... Read more

Hey all: Please pray for my friend Dave Curp’s mother, who had a heart attack a couple of days ago. She’s doing a bit better, but Dave is stuck in Poland, worrying about her and it’s been a hard couple of days. Please pray she makes a full recovery. His wife, Sherry Curp, has the whole story here. Read more

I’m currently experiencing the “to read history is to cease to be Protestant” phenomenon. One thing I’m curious about is how Catholics approach the idea of a Great Apostasy. The concept looks less likely than it once did, but the NT does predict a “falling away” before Jesus’ return. How do Catholics understand 2 Thess. 2:3,4? Does it apply to the likes of the Gnostics, Arians, etc? Is there a specific identification of the “man of sin?” Catholics don’t have... Read more

I recall recently reading one of your articles on either Inside or Exchange, and seeing something along the lines that within the first 500 years of the Christian era, 5/6 of Israel embraced the faith. Could you point me to somewhere where I could read more detail about this? Your wish is my command! Here’s the salient point from Neuhaus’ review of David Klinghoffer’s Why the Jews Rejected Jesus: Scholars generally agree that in the first century there were approximately six... Read more

This is, of course, inexplicable since Catholics hate and fear science and dogmatically teach that God cannot have created non-human rational creatures. As is common knowledge, before the Council, such ideas would have been met with rack and stake by any right-thinking Catholic. Must be a publicity stunt to make the New Church look hip to the kids. Eric Sammons weighs in here. Read more
