The article is only moderately maddening in its continuation of the lie (started by Lifesite in the service of its own stupid anti-Potter crusade) that Pope Benedict was some sort of anti-Potterite and some of the theological exegeses of HP are a bit of a stretch, I think. But basically, it’s now bleedin’ obvious that Rowling is drawing very heavily on the Christian tradition for her work. She’s not, one hastens to add, an American Evangelical or a Catholic, so... hi mark, i heard the podcast of the journey home with you on it & thought you were very entertaining(as well as informative – you always have to add that..). i’ve been crawling through romans and i came to chapter 8 verse 1 – “there is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus.” do non catholics love pointing this out to catholics as an argument for “once saved, always saved” or as an argument against... Matthew 12:38-42 – Please explain this section of the scripture since Jesus rose on thye third morningafter his death.. I’m not sure. It could be that Jesus is exaggerating the parallelism between his passion and the story of Jonah in order to make the basic parallel clear. It could be that he is reckoning his sufferings on Thursday night as part of the descent into the heart of the earth. Perhaps both. Or maybe he’s making some other point that... Read more
