Flourish: Atlanta

InterVarsity’s Women in the Academy & Professions longs to see women in all sectors of our society living wholeheartedly into their God-given callings for the sake of his glory, their joy, and the good of the world. Our vision is to see women studying, working, writing, and serving with courage and confidence as they faithfully develop and steward the talents they’ve been given. We know that when they do, they prosper, our campus fellowships prosper, universities prosper, the Church prospers, our culture prospers, and God is honored.

But we know how difficult this can be. The reality for many women is that added to the challenges already present in any given workplace or field of study are layers of complexity — both internal and external — involved in living out their callings to the academy, the professional world, and their communities. Some wrestle with the challenge of “balance” between the demands of a rewarding career and the family they love, wondering if either gets the best it deserves. Some struggle with the lack of mentors in their field or systems in place which make it nearly impossible for women to thrive. Other bright and capable women go about their daily work doubting they have what it takes to succeed, second-guessing their efforts, input and value.
