Women, Work, and Calling
February 26, 2015 @ 11:30 pm - 2:00 am
$20Whether women are working at home, professionally, in the wider community or all of the above, they face unique challenges as they seek to faithfully navigate the complexity of their calling. For Christians seeking to steward the fullness of their lives, finding better language and more flexible frameworks to think about the many dimensions of a woman’s work is essential. In the midst of inevitable tensions and uncertainties how does our faith address the questions many women face and how can the church better equip women in their vocation?
On February 26, DIFW will host a forum discussing women, work, and calling at the Palazzo Verdi Event Center in Greenwood Village. Our goal is to equip women to steward the various dimensions of their lives more fully, biblically, and creatively.
Men are invited too!
“The Christian Call for Women to Work” – Presenter: Katelyn Beaty
What does Scripture say to women about work and how have women throughout history have responded to God’s call? How can women embrace their calling to steward their personal and professional gifts at any age or life stage?
“Navigating the Challenges of Motherhood, Career and Identity” – Presenter: Kate Harris
Whether to lean in or opt out, go to work or work from home, win the bread or care for the kids—or even to have kids or not—American women face tough choices when it comes to living out of a sense of vocation. How can we help women discern their God-given calling and how can the church explore the tensions revealed in the lives of modern women?
Kate Harris serves as Executive Director at The Washington Institute for Faith, Vocation, and Culture. A native of Colorado, Kate moved to Washington in 2002 and spent several years working for Senate leadership on Capitol Hill before helping to found the Wedgewood Circle, an angel investment network to fund art that lifts up the good, true and beautiful. She recently published Wonder Woman: Navigating the Challenges of Motherhood, Career, and Identity with Zondervan as part of the Barna Frames series. She is married to a very good man and mother to their four young children.
