Who Is Your Candidate?

ABC News has a delightful if apparently occasionally disconcerting questionnaire that reveals your “true” choices among the current crop of presidential hopefuls. (I gather more than one self-professed Democrat found a Republican or two on their list, as well as significant examples of the other way ’round…)

While I never strayed from the Democratic fold in this test, I wasn’t entirely happy with the list that popped for me. The first time I took it I ended up with Gravel (at least he’s an old Unitarian Universalist) as my first choice, Kucinich as my second and Dodd as my third. I was slightly more than annoyed with the results as I see myself as more pragmatic and these candidates are all such long-shots (I mean, if it were Edwards, a so-called “first tier,” at least I’d still feel I was in the running…). So, I tried it again. This time my “first choice” turned out to be Kucinich, followed by Gravel and Dodd following third.

Considering I very much plan on voting for Clinton, and look forward to our first Woman President (even though, admittedly, haunted by her Nixonian inclinations), these results were quite interesting if not completely happy. (And, I suspect, open tons of possibilities for reflection in all sorts of different directions…)
