Last night we left the world of the single car household. It was a place we enjoyed for a number of years, and for many reasons, not the least of which was feeling morally superior to our friends. But times change and we really needed to become a two car household. Fortunately an old friend needed to sell a car. So, last night we closed the deal and have become the proud owners of two rather used but serviceable Subarus…
Then this morning Jan drove to the train station for her commute to Perkins.
And on the way while driving North on Interstate 95, the steering mechanism failed…
She appears to have spun a complete three hundred sixty before slamming into the safety wall. While at the height of commuter traffic, no other vehicle was involved.
The air bag deployed.
The car, our original Subaru, looks a mess…
Jan is badly shaken but otherwise unharmed.
We’re now home, but with many things yet ahead for us today…
Not least of which is exploring the feeling of uncertainty in the world, gratitude for being alive, and in pretty good shape, and knowing it all can and will pass in a moment…
And, I suspect, we may be back to being a one car household for a bit longer…
