Retreat Continues

Retreat Continues 2011-11-01T15:09:51-07:00

I have a minor bug (not swine flu, but maybe piglet flu) and that’s leaving me a bit out of sorts as I crowd up with the colleagues.

I passed on the sing along last night & I’m also giving a pass to the outside program today with a prominent UU musician. But I’m making all the regular clergy get together stuff, the business meetings, and what not.
The bug probably contributes to my general level of grumpitude, but I swear the noise level at breakfast was above normal for a group of comparable size…
This morning I got up early in quest of the decent cup of coffee. According to google there was a Starbucks within eight miles. At six I found a local coffee shop that hadn’t popped in my original search. Not great, but I like to give the local business the trade when possible.
(I don’t knock Starbucks. They provide a reliable and more than decent product and they treat their employees better than most corporations doing service work. Still, given the chance I prefer going local…)
I’m doing the worship this eve & I will be giving some time this morning to prep.
Otherwise, I think a little walk would be good.
The grounds here at the armpit of the Cape (that’s a geographical reference, not a slam on culture…) are quite lovely and we’re right on the water.
Even slightly out of sorts and with a gurgly tummy, I have to admit life is good.
And I still have that novel, something by the remarkable Michael Chabon. So, a treat when I’m ready…
