Peter Morales Elected President of the Unitarian Universalist Association 2011-11-01T15:09:37-07:00

Yesterday evening the Reverend Peter Morales of Golden, Colorado, was elected the eighth president of the Unitarian Universalist Association. He is the first person of Hispanic heritage to hold the office.

I supported Dr Laurel Hallman’s bid for the presidency. And a scant few hours following the announcements of the results I still have some sense of mourning clinging to my heart. But, I repeatedly said, and genuinely believe, we had been blessed with two formidable candidates for the office and no matter how it turned out our Association would be well served.
This evening Jan & I will be joining with other delegates and attendees at this year’s Salt Lake City General Assembly to install Peter as our president.
I look forward to his term of office and will do what I can to assure it will be a success. I look forward to our next steps together as the principal expression of liberal religion in North America…
