Zen Master John Tarrant in Massachusetts

Zen Master John Tarrant in Massachusetts August 18, 2009

John Tarrant at Kripalu Sept 25-27

John Tarrant, Roshi, senior teacher at the Pacific Zen Institute and my primary Zen teacher makes a rare visit to the east coast Sept 25-27 to teach at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in the Berkshires in Stockbridge, MA. The retreat he’ll be leading is called, Meditation and Creativity: Practices that Free the Mind. This retreat, unlike conventional Zen sesshin, is very much for everyone; and very important for someone just interested in the range of spiritual practice: no experience is required.

John observes that “Spirituality is so important that it ought to be fun.” And those who’ve worked with him know this to be true…

In this retreat you will experience “meditation as a creative act, through the use of koans, which throw overboard our standard issue worries and speak to the creative force in us.”

And while he is out in the wild east:

John Tarrant, Roshi, September 28th

Benevolent Street, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Spring Hill and Henry David Thoreau Sanghas are hosting him at the practice Monday night September 28th, 7:30 pm in Newton.

John is one of the immediate masters in our Boundless Way lineage and this is a unique opportunity to hear him teach. Mark your calendars for one or both of these evenings. $20 suggested donation.
