A bit more than a year ago I cast my ballot for Barack Obama.
I didn’t vote for him to come to Washington and make kissyface with the Republicans, although I hoped he could lift the level of rhetoric a bit.
I voted for him to drive through some major and some smaller issues of concern to a country that claims to care for its citizens and the world.
I voted for him most of all to address the terror of the American healthcare system. My druthers would give us a single payer system. But I voted for him knowing he would be a politician seeking that highest good of the politician, the art of the possible.
And last night the man delivered.
The president said, “This is what change looks like.”
I am so proud of those with the courage to go forward in the face of the most vicious attacks, smears and slanders. And these will not end. I know this will cost some their seats in the House, maybe a seat or two in the Senate.
Bless you who put your country and the higher good ahead of your own political careers.
Bless this country.
And bless the President of the United States of America.
Makes me recall how I felt a little more than a year ago…
Yes we did…
