I’m shocked and moved and grateful that people have found this little blog of some interest in their lives.

I have no idea what is supposed to be a big number in this universe, but let me tell you a quarter of a million visits sounds like a big number to me.

I’m so glad when four years and a month ago and I was about to go on sabbatical friends encouraged me to blog as a way to keep in touch with the congregation.

I looked into it and thought even a monkey like me might be able to do it. And on September the 5th, 2006, I began by posting in rapid order three poems.

And I’ve continued, today trying to put something, even if just a cartoon or a snippet of music up most every day. By my best manipulation of the calculator attached to this computer, counting this entry I’ve posted one thousand, six hundred and twenty-three times.

This practice, and it has become a practice, a discipline for me, has pushed my boundaries, and I think made me more thoughtful and aware of what is going on around me.

And, I like to think, it has allowed me to be of some use to others on the way.

So, thank you all!

I’ll try my best to continue and to write what is worthy of your attention.

Much of the time, anyway…
