Elsie Mitchell died on Monday, the 17th of October, 2011, at her home in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Mrs Mitchell was a pioneer of convert Buddhism in the West. In 1957, she, together with her husband John, D.T. Suzuki and Shinichi Hisamatsu founded the Cambridge Buddhist Association.
She was a friend and mentor to many.
