Dickens in Lowell & Planning for Further Adventures up the Coast

Dickens in Lowell & Planning for Further Adventures up the Coast 2012-03-31T09:37:39-07:00

When we realized Jan & I had not gotten away from work since July (excepting for Zen meditation retreats, which, frankly, as important as they are too us, are just not “down” time) we consulted the calendar and saw the only chance before the end of the year for a longish weekend was this weekend, I arranged for the incomparable Helen Cohen to preach this Sunday – and, now, we’re off!

Yesterday afternoon we drove up to Lowell, where the Dickens in Lowell exhibition had its official opening. Jan oversaw the loan of a number of items related to Dickens & Perkins School for the Blind and wanted to see what they did with it all. They did good, really good! I encourage anyone in the area, or even willing to drive a bit, to take it in.

After we found a nice bistro in the area for dinner. It was a treat & not just because we weren’t cooking…

Now, we’re up and thanks to our private stash of Coffee Exchange coffee, bushy tailed, and we’re ready to take off for Maine. We’re planning a leisurely drive over to the coast and to follow Route 1 up to Portland.

Overcast out there. But we should stay ahead of the storming promised for southern New England.

Life is good…
