A Feast of Beatles Days

A Feast of Beatles Days July 10, 2015

TheBeatles

I am sufficiently out of it that I was unaware there are contending Beatle’s Days out there.

One is today, the 10th of July, marking their return to Liverpool following their wildly successful first tour of the United States. It is observed in, of course, Liverpool, but also in Hamburg, their other “home” city.

However for reasons I don’t quite follow, the Wikipedia article on this important holiday say mostly Americans prefer to observe the 27th of February as Beatles Day, for something having to do with Spring.

However, that’s hardly the end of the story. A google search turned up a third date, Global Beatles Day, observed on June 25th. The justification for this day is that it marks the broadcast of the Beatles performing “All you need is Love” in 1967. Continuing on google, I found then International Beatles Fan Day, which is observed on the 6th of June, and marks when the Beatles met their producer George Martin of EMI studies. Important no doubt.

I guess if we throw in their various birthdays, we can pretty much celebrate the Beatles around the calendar.

But, for today, just a little morning song…
