Rohatsu: The Celebration of the Buddha’s Awakening
Sesshin: To Touch the Heart Mind
The Blue Cliff Zen Network announces our next sesshin, a three-day intensive Zen meditation retreat.
Our program will feature zazen, liturgy, zazen, talks, zazen, spiritual direction interviews, zazen, meals, zazen, work practice. And some more zazen.
The sesshin starts on Thursday evening the 6th of December, 2018, and concludes about noon on Sunday the 9th.
Our lead teacher will be the Reverend James Myoun Ford. Myoun Roshi was a co-founder of Boundless Way Zen and is currently the senior priest of the Blue Cliff Zen network. A popular retreat leader and spiritual director, he is also the author of a number of books on Zen in the West as well as the blog Monkey Mind.
Myoun Roshi will be assisted by Senior Dharma teacher Jan Seymour-Ford. And we usually have a guest teacher or two join us.
We will be gathering at the Pine Mountain Buddhist Temple & Meditation Retreat in the Ventura County Mountains of Southern California.
$225 for the weekend. Scholarships are available. (This fee does not include remuneration for any of the teachers or staff. Dana, a free-will offering will be accepted at the end of the sesshin in appreciation of those of the teachers who give talks and offer interviews, as well as for the tenzo (head cook).)
Again, our program will be: Zazen, liturgy, zazen, talks, zazen, spiritual direction interviews, zazen, meals, zazen, work practice. And perhaps some more zazen.
This retreat is limited to people with a settled meditation practice. Ideally within the Zen tradition. Consult the registration form, or write us for more details.
Pine Mountain Zen Temple is in the Ventura Mountains, approximately two and a half hours from LAX, two hours from Bob Hope International Airport in Burbank, and about two hours from Meadows Field Airport in Bakersfield. It is remote, approximately forty miles from either of the nearest towns, Ojai, or Gorman on Interstate 5. A perfect setting for a Zen retreat.
Again:
Zazen, liturgy, zazen, talks, zazen, spiritual direction interviews, zazen, meals, zazen, work practice. And some more zazen.
