His Holiness Pope Shenouda III has died. Nazeer Gayed was born on the 3rd of August, 1923. After completing his undergraduate degree at Cairo University, and teaching at the High School level briefly, he undertook monastic profession, entering the Syrian Monastery in Scetes. Last evening’s memorial service at the edge of the river down from the church was quite moving. Maybe a hundred students, staff & faculty from the school. Cynthia’s all too brief life, her talent as an artist, her attention and grace and dignity all celebrated. Her one terrible decision not ignored.
