It always amazes me how blind we are to our own issues. We all carry baggage… invisible but burdensome. They can be our weaknesses, our psychological scars, our expectations, our ideologies, our urges, our needs, our prejudices, our preferences, our passions, our wounds, etc. It is of utmost importance for us to be mindful of the timbers that cloud our own eyes, to become self-aware. It doesn’t begin with fixing any of these issues, but first and foremost simply becoming aware of them. That is the first step to personal liberation. And, for community health, this is essential.
