FREEBIE FRIDAY: “solitary tree”

Welcome to another FREEBIE FRIDAY giveaway. Some suggest that I shouldn’t give away my art because it depreciates its value. I don’t have money, but I have things I create. How can I be generous right now? By giving away some of my creations. My goal is not to become a famous artist, but to help make the world a more beautiful place for people. If I can help bring beauty into someone’s home or office, then I have accomplished something. Giving away an occasional painting does this.

I’m giving this ORIGINAL watercolor and ink painting away. It measures 4″x6″ (10cm x 15cm) and is painted on Strathmore watercolor paper. It doesn’t come matted or framed, but I’m showing you a picture of what it will look like once it’s ready to hang. It is signed by me, the artist, dhayward.

I often draw such trees as this. I’ve drawn many of them. I love trees. When I go for a walk, I notice each one. They seem to have personalities. Souls. Each one of them has their own beauty. I feel an attachment to them. Some kind of bond. This particular tree has experienced many hardships. He has endured many harsh seasons. He’s lost the trees that used to be around him and provided support and protection and company. Now he is alone. But he refuses to give up. He continues to reach up, up, up, to make his beautiful impression on the world.
