This is a photograph of the tree which inspired my most recent drawing I posted this morning. Someone on Facebook requested it, so I complied. Hope you like it Jennifer! It lives just a mile up my road. Frankly, it is even more dramatic in the winter minus its leaves.
I love trees. I have a special connection with them. It is a mysterious one. I admire them.
They remind me of the provisions and promises.
They inspire me to sink my roots deep, to reach high and to become wise. They instruct me to seek nourishment. They encourage me to weather the storms, and even provide shelter for those in the midst of their own storms. They teach me how to grow and how to be anchored. They show me how to meet the seasons, and to enjoy and suffer them.
But mostly, they cultivate hope within me that one day, maybe not today or tomorrow or next year or even next decade… but that one day any good work that I might do may eventually bear fruit.
