I’d heard these words so often that they’ve become brain ingrained. Even in places that boasted grace and love! They’ve become a part of who I am. Like memories that can’t be forgotten. Vestiges of a bad dream that can’t be shaken. A strange paradox, that the very words to force my good behavior actually aroused the desire to transgress. I can hear manipulation, coercion and control from a long ways off, and I abhor the sound of its voice.
