Someone asked me yesterday if I ever really do or have had enemies. The answer is yes. I’ve had people oppose me and try to bring me down.

I’ve never been stoned with stones. But I’ve been stoned with words and have seen other people stoned with words. I’ve stoned people with words. Several times this verse has been pronounced over me, “‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay!’ says the Lord.” In public. It was a very powerful way of singling me out, shaming me, threatening me, ostracizing me… everyone looking at me like I was cursed. It was a spiritual stoning that would have preceded the real one.

Why have I been allowed to experience all these things over the years in the church? I think it’s so that I can help others who are going through the same thing, or have and haven’t yet recovered.
