prayer from the cell: left to find

prayer from the cell: left to find

prayer from the cell left the church to find it by nakedpastor

This is really true.

I’ve seen it locally. I notice that the people around me, from Christian church-goers to Christian non-church-goers to non-Christian non-church-goers to atheists to whatever… I’ve found around me a rich tapestry of spiritual people who encourage me, teach me and support me, and I them.

I’ve seen it online. I’ve found gathered around nakedpastor a rich tapestry of spiritual people. It is you! It is profound.

The other day I posted a message one of my readers sent me (with his typos):

Preach God’s Word not what you think or what you feel! How can a man say he’s Christ -like and defend the sin of homosexuality. Btw, there’s a fine line between homosexuality and pedophila, one is consenual and one is coerst. By reading your wall I can see your nothing more than salesman. Stop preaching, cuz you suck at it!

I received an incredible amount of responses that was very encouraging to me and what nakedpastor’s role is. Here’s a letter from one of my tumblr readers, a young woman:

Please don’t listen to the hate mail. This might sound crazy, but you are the only pastor that I can listen to without cringing in fear of religion. I’m not a Christian, I’m not anything really, but what you say makes a lot of sense to me. Especially the stories that you put with your paintings like Separating from Toxic Relationships and You too Can Preserve. They mean so much to me. I haven’t quite figured myself out yet, but I know that your beliefs ring true with a lot of folks here – including me. So don’t listen to the hate, they just don’t get it yet.

And a young woman in China won last Freebie Friday’s print, “I Think I’m Gay!”, who is very thankful for the role nakedpastor plays in her life. She says:

your artwork have always inspired me on re-thinking what is faith, what is a christian, and what is church

I will keep writing and drawing my thoughts and journey. So many seem to relate to it.

I am not alone. Neither are you!

I will make time available at reasonable rates if you need to talk: email me
