you won’t know until you get there

I love walking in heavy snowfall. Especially at night. There is something very mystical about it. Your vision is very limited. If there is a path before you, it can’t be seen. If you leave a path behind you, it certainly won’t be seen for long. So, even though you are moving, there is very little evidence of it. The blowing snow gives the appearance that, even though you are making progress, there is no verification.

For those of you who are transitioning spirituality from one place to another, there are times when you feel like you are moving, but there’s no proof. You are certain, intuitively, that you are changing, but there is nothing to show for it. You are putting one spiritual leg in front of the other, but nothing seems to be happening.

It comes down to trust. Like this snow-walker, the only proof you will get is when you finally get there. Once you arrive, then you will know without a doubt that you’ve made the necessary progress. It is then you will know your efforts were not in vain. But you won’t know until you get there.

There are seasons when there is no immediate gratification for your efforts. There are times, like winter, when you just have to trust that you will reach your goal, that you will finally find what you were looking for, that you will arrive home.
