So last night my second child and son Jesse graduated from grade 12. Lisa and I invited the whole church over to celebrate. Lots of food, beer, wine, and excellent community. I just love how the community mixes from child to elder. We all mingle together and enjoy each other. I overheard someone say that our church is a “party church”. I like that. I think there is enormous value in just getting together and practice loving one another. This... Read more

I want to link back to some people who’ve said some very nice things about this blog, and I want to return the favor by linking back to them:William Lehman over at decloned has been so inspired by my “nakedness” (I hear that a lot!) and my cartoons that he’s going to embark on his own cartoon endeavor. Today Shane spoke on the principalities and the powers. Excellent. I lead worship and it went well. My mom and dad are here, as well as my oldest son Joshua, from Ottawa. This afternoon we went out to eat at a restaurant for Father’s Day. Nice buffet. Came home and had a nap. Woke up and noticed, in front of our house, a bunch of cars parked. In front of our house is the beautiful Kennebacasis River. Wind-surfers take off... Read more

I’m finding it very difficult lately to be two things at one time: a critic of the system I’m a part of. As you might have guessed by now, I’m both a critic of official Christianity and institutional church as well as being a full-time professional pastor. I find it really challenging to remain in the system. I experience why so many people abandon the church and religion. One of the main reasons, I must confess, is because of the... Read more
